Volunteering for Sports Made Possible

My name is Brandon Minshall. I am twelve years old and this is my first time volunteering for this program. I have a cousin that has CP. She told me how much fun she had playing T-ball. I came to watch her play and I was hooked. I saw how much fun everyone was having. The helpers were laughing as much as the players were. I wanted to be involved.

I have fun helping. The kids are wonderful. It makes me feel good just to be around these special players. Their parents really enjoy having helpers that are there for the kids and not just for goofing around.

Although it is a game, I need to take it seriously because if I goof off, someone can get hurt. The players and their parents are counting on me. Even though it can be tough, I enjoy every game I get to be with these special athletes.

I can’t wait until the next session.

WHAT DOES MEAN TO BE A BUDDY

When you are a buddy to a player you help the player play to the best of his/her ability and you protect the player on the field.

• You must be 10 years old to be a buddy
• We appreciate any time you can give, you do not have to commit for the whole season, one hour, one day, what ever you can give.
• DUE TO THE NATURE OF THE PROGRAM - We do not accept court ordered community service
